Scott's G Series has been considered an icon. These smooth, medium-action fly rods have been cherished by anglers around the world. Introduced in 1976, the G Series revolutionized the world of fly fishing with models that were far outside the norm at the time, such as the 9-foot-4 G Series. The G was also the first to feature a sophisticated hollow internal ferrule for a smooth, connected action. In 2006, the G2 series was introduced. With less weight and faster recovery, these models modernized the medium action trout rod. This year, we are introducing the new G Series, an advanced medium action fly rod with two innovations. First, we have improved the design of the hollow internal ferrule, making it more flexible and durable, while shaving 20% off the weight. We also combined the most advanced carbon fiber and resin systems to create an extremely complex lay-up construction that overlays different materials of different modulus. To take full advantage of this structure, the blanks have a complex taper. The resulting new G series easily meets the biggest challenge in medium action fly rod design: to bend well and not lose stability. Light in the hand, the middle section of the rod bends without twisting to keep the casting surface clean and produce high line speeds. However, the classic deep bending that you love so much has been kept intact. The presentation is both delicate and powerful, so even with 7X tippet you can apply pressure and cast into the wind without fear. The new G Series. A group of rods that soar from the rest. Here is a video of the final G Series test and series introduction in Hokkaido, Japan in early summer 2017.
