Short shank hooks have a greater hook angle for the same gape size, so there is a risk of the hook being bounced if the point is too short, but if the hook is sharp like this hook, the hooking response is extremely good. The barb is minimal in size, so as a hook with a barb, it has less resistance to the point of entry, which is advantageous for hooking. This slim, sharp, black finish hook has a variety of uses.
In 2020, in response to many requests, the classic Japanese mountain stream hook is being revived in a limited number of sizes. Only two sizes are available, #12 and #14. Limited edition 50-packs for domestic sales only.
