Steelhead/Salmon hook with tapered loop and up-eye
Salmon/Steelhead, Wet Fly, Up-turned tapered loop-eye, Heavy wire, Forged, Black. Salmon/Steelhead, Wet Fly, Up-turned tapered loop-eye, Heavy wire, Forged, Black.
Tapered loop, up-turned steelhead/salmon hook. The 7999 for wet flies is made of a heavier material than most salmon hooks. The reason for this is not only because of its sturdiness, but also because, in reality, there are many situations in which it is more advantageous to have this level of eye. For example, on large steelhead rivers, where the use of a weight is restricted, this hook is most useful when using a floating line and controlling the undercurrent with techniques such as back mending and fly sinking, which are both light and most enjoyable. For low water patterns and dry flies, use the same lightweight TMC7989. Alternatively, TMC5262, 5263, 200R, 2457, etc. in #8 and smaller sizes have already proven their strength to withstand steel heading.
