It is used to fly aquatic insects with longer silhouettes, as well as for stoneflies and large caddis adults. Randall Kaufman's preferred hook. This is not a conventional hook where the shank is the length of the reel, so feel free to use it as you wish. Telestrials also have their uses. Various attempts have been made to create special effects by bending a portion of the shank somewhat.
