The "Japanese Fly Rod" reborn after 10 years of development
The action and strength of the J-Stream are set for each model based on the field in which it will be used.
This concept is the same as before, but with this model change, the blank finishing method has been changed and the blank characteristics have been modified. The finishing method used in the previous series was called "sanding finish," in which the surface of the fired blank was polished and painted to make the surface smooth. Most fly rods on the market today are made with this "sanding finish" method. On the other hand, the "unsanded finish" is a process where the tape marks on the surface of the fired blank are left as they are without being polished. The "Unsanded Finish" is still used for some rods, and was used for the J-Stream model change.
The "Sanding Finish" and "Unsanded Finish" are two different methods of making the same blank. Let's compare the case where the same blank is finished by two different methods. The sanding finish process polishes the surface of the blank, slightly reducing the amount of carbon fiber, while the thicker coating tends to increase the weight of the blank and reduce the blank's resilience. As a result, the lightness of the blank is reduced, but it is easier to create a sticky blank. On the other hand, unsanded finish does not reduce the carbon fiber content because the surface of the blank is not shaved, and by minimizing the coating, it is easier to produce a light, resilient, and nimble action. Both have their advantages and disadvantages, but it is important to design a rod that makes the most of each characteristic. Unlike the first generation J-Stream, the second generation J-Stream uses an "unsanded finish" to set the action and strength. The result is a blank that is lightweight, free of shake, and fast to return (recover), resulting in improved casting accuracy.

. A #2 rod that has plenty of butt power, yet is flexible and bends well. It looks soft at first glance, but once the rod is swung through the line, it has a medium slow action with a firm bend and a sharp action. When swung fast and firmly, the entire blank bends and the line speed increases, creating a sharply angled boat-shaped loop. Fly size #12 or smaller is recommended. Casting range is about 13 meters, of which the comfortable zone is from 9 to 11 meters. This fly is suitable for the satogawa river in the warm weather of early spring. SA-J Stream DWF-2F line is recommended.

The 793-4 has a parabolic action that follows the most popular specifications of the first generation series, and the use of an unsanded finish has improved its resilience compared to the previous model. The use of an unsanded finish has improved the resilience of the rod compared to the previous model, and has also reduced blurring for improved casting accuracy. The action has been set to be strong enough for a wide range of use in ordinary mountain streams, and can be used with a slightly longer leader system. The casting range is about 13m, of which 9-11m is the comfortable zone. This is the standard specification for Japanese mountain stream fly fishing.
. The 8-foot-3 is the standard spec for open mountain streams. Wind protection is important for this field. In order to create a loop that will not be defeated by wind, the rod needs to have both power and supple bend. This allows the lure to easily handle long tippet and leader systems of 18 ft. and to easily mend points that are a little further away. The range is about 15m, but 10-13m is a comfortable distance. This model can be used for everything from rise fishing in open rivers to blind fishing in wide rapids.
The JS804-4 is a model that can be used in a wide range of fishing conditions. What is required of an 8-foot-4 rod is ease of use when rise fishing in main streams and blind fishing in open mountain streams. In the rise scene from early spring to early summer, the rod must be able to handle midge size and larger patterns such as mayflies. It also needs to be sensitive in presentation and powerful enough to withstand the wind. In addition, blind fishing in large mountain streams requires more frequent casts, which puts more stress on the rod hand. The medium fast action 804-4 is a well-balanced fusion of these various factors such as power, suppleness, and ease of use. The rod's casting range is about 16m, with a comfortable zone of 10-13m.
