　In controlled fishing areas, start with a flashy color like #16 and gradually change to smaller, more subdued colors.
Start with chartreuse, orange, white, and other flashy colors in the morning, evening, and immediately after the release of fish, when there is a high level of activity. During the daytime, when the fish are more reluctant to fish, it is best to change to more subdued colors such as olive, black, and brown.
Red and wine are also not out of place as red bug colors.
If the shadow of the tippet is bothering you after casting, pull back a little and let it sink below the surface, or apply sinking material to force it to sink

and force the tippet to sink to remove the shadow.
I use a very thin fluorocarbon tippet that blends well in the water.
