Octa Ferrule
The patented (Patent No. 2012-187035) anti-twist ferrule with non-circular cross section features a perfect three-dimensional fit by negatively copying the perfect shape on the female side from the original three-dimensional structure on the male side. The key is how to form a deep octagonal hole in a solid carbon shaft.
This is essentially different from the indirect manufacturing method where the male and female ferrules are precision molded independently, but rather a direct three-dimensional duplication of the male side, followed by separation. This method allows for large-area contact on the ferrule's inner surface. This is completely different from a well-made multi-point contact, as there is no conversion of friction into heat energy, so there is no waste in the transmission of force.
