Featuring a Generation 5 Technology blank, the SENSE's action starts with a soft tip that is effective for precision nymph rigging and fine tippet protection, and is lighter than standard fast-action/multi-application rods for easier control. The tip also absorbs shocks and prevents "bouncing" that could cause the fine tippet to break. The soft tip section, coupled with a sturdy butt section, allows for quick hooking and control of fish with minimal recoil. It also keeps the line tight during the fight and has enough main power to net a strong trout.

In addition to the specially designed blank, SENSE features application-specific parts and coating. The single foot guide reduces weight and improves sensitivity, while the stripper guide is optimally positioned to keep the line close to the hand and blank, preventing unwanted snagging and enhancing control. The matte black downlocking reel seat also helps balance the reel while shifting the weight of the reel more rearward. In addition, the stealth gray blank color and tonal paint job provide glare-free camouflage when approaching dimly lit pools and spots. 3100-4 and 3106-4 traditional models, as well as larger models such as the 4100-4, are available, Each model is specialized for a particular situation and delivers higher performance.
